Featuring both USB 3.0 and SATA II interfaces for connection to external devices, the N002 features “industry-leading 8-channel architecture”, allowing it to deliver ultra-fast performance of 200 MB/s (read) and170 MB/s (write).

Hitachi GST Unleashes 2.5-inch, 7200rpm 500GB HDD

Hitachi GST is shipping its fifth-generation Travelstar™ 7K500 is a 500GB, 2.5-inch, 3Gb/s SATA drive. It is designed for energy efficiency with low power consumption at 0.69 watts idle power and 1.8 watts during read/write operations. Travelstar 7K500 is now shipping in limited quantities to top tier OEMs. Volume shipments will begin this month. Hitachi will offer an enhanced-availability (EA) version, available in 160GB to 500GB capacities in November ‘09.

Fremont (CA) – CPU wars, graphics wars and now we also have sound wars. Despite the fact that audio features in modern PCs have become a commodity and have received little attention in recent years, the move to high-definition is now increasing the rivalry between sound card makers. Creative sent an email to several websites accusing Asus of misleading users by not supporting environmental audio extensions (EAX) – which have been used by Creative since 2001. As you might imagine, Asus has a different opinion.
